Not long ago, I talked about building a brand – an author brand. In concert with the work I’ve been doing on the M.K. Tod brand with Katie Birks Branding and Design, I’m also working on a new look and feel for A Writer of History. I want new and long-time followers to find information that’s useful to their interests, whether that be reading or writing historical fiction, research techniques, writing craft, reader surveys, book recommendations and so on.
With Katie’s excellent guidance, we’ve come up with a new design for A Writer of History that will launch soon.
Here’s a glimpse of what to expect:
A fresh look with posts accessible by topic:
Latest post at the top, others gather by topic:
Ready access to reader survey posts and reports:
Information about my novels and link to my author website
In addition, there’s a compilation of author advice based on interviews with top historical fiction authors and others; a collection of posts on the craft of writing, as distinct from writing historical fiction. I’ve also pulled together most of the posts relating to the 7 elements of historical fiction.
With luck, the new looks for M.K. Tod and A Writer of History will complement and reinforce one another.
The last two months have been busy! I’ll be back soon to announce the launch.
DON’T MISS OTHER POSTS ON READING & WRITING HISTORICAL FICTION. FOLLOW A WRITER OF HISTORY
M.K. Tod writes historical fiction. Her latest novel, PARIS IN RUINS, is available for pre-order on Amazon US, Amazon Canada, Kobo, and Barnes&Noble. An earlier novel, TIME AND REGRET was published by Lake Union. Mary’s other novels, LIES TOLD IN SILENCE and UNRAVELLED are available from Amazon, Nook, Kobo, Google Play and iTunes. Looking good, Mary!
Exciting News! I like the planned updates. BTW: I tried to enter my email address to subscribe; however, it would not take. I believe it was looking for a WordPress linked address, but I wanted it to come to another email. I look forward to exploring your new site!
Many thanks, Grant. I hope you’ll try again to subscribe when the new version is up 🙂
Very impressive! I’m looking forward to exploring your new site.
Hi Mary
It all looks fabulous! Glad Katie was able to help.
Katie is wonderful to work with … her design flare and organizational skills have been superb. Hopefully I haven’t frustrated her too much as I’ve been a bit slow with my responses. I can highly recommend her!!
