Historical Fiction blogs

As some of you know, A Writer of History has been going since early 2012 – which means that the blog is over 14 years old. Now, if you’d asked me back then how long I might be blogging about historical fiction, I would never have imagined 14 years.

One crucial element to the success of AWOH is contributions from other authors – and there have been many of them. So, the success and continuity of A Writer of History is also due to many others. Thank you!

Recently, someone pointed out to me that A Writer of History was on a list published by Feedspot of 80 Best Historical Fiction Blogs. As you might imagine, I checked the list – for some reason beginning toward the bottom. And I kept looking for A Writer of History … and looking. Much to my surprise and delight, I found my blog in the #1 spot!

According to Feedspot: “The best Historical Fiction blogs curated and ranked based on multiple factors, including content relevancy, subject expertise, posting frequency, and freshness of content. Blogs with highest credibility within the Historical Fiction space are ranked higher. This list is updated regularly to ensure it reflects the most active, influential, and valuable Historical Fiction blogs on the internet today.”

Feedspot is “a content reader and media aggregation platform that lets you read blogs, follow podcasts, watch YouTube channels, and track news or RSS feeds in one central dashboard.” You can go to Feedspot, type in a search criteria and discover all sorts of content related to your area of interest. Their mission is to “categorize global media outlets and content creators to make them easy to discover, follow, and contact. In this case, media outlets include blogs, podcasts, magazines, and news websites while content creators include Instagram influencers, Twitter influencers, YouTubers, and TikTok influencers.

I queried ‘french cooking’ and was presented with 30 French Cooking YouTubers. I typed in ‘hiking’ and found lists for topics like: 100 Hiking Blogs; 20 Hiking Forums; 15 UK Hiking Blogs and more.

I’m pleased to be on the Feedspot list – and delighted that so many are interested in A Writer of History.

By the way, A Writer of History has also earned accolades from Writer’s Digest and QueryLetter.com.
